Out of the Mouths of Babes

Jason and Thornton are in the shower this past weekend and I hear Thornton exclaim to his father: "Daddy, you're penis is BIG"! I hear absolute silence, then this response from my husband "Why yes... yes it is son". I'm about to bust out laughing when the next line gets me more. "My penis is little"... at which point Jason responds: "that's because you are little, Thornton. When you get big, your're penis will also get big". Thornton simply nods his head at this sage advise. I almost laugh out loud, but realize this is a VERY serious matter, so I only snicker silently.

Our Parenting Philosophy
Above all, our goal is to raise the children to be loving and respectful, and have a passion for living! We don’t pretend to know how to be the best parents; we are making it up every day! Every day we learn new things, and we know you will too. No one is perfect; the point is to do your best with love in your heart.

We think the best way to raise the children at this age is to stick to a general schedule, allow for some flexibility, keep them active, and be consistent with discipline. We’re relatively laid back parents allowing “boys to be boys.” This means allowing rough and tumble play, climbing, playing with sticks, loud noises, etc. However, we do not tolerate any malicious violence to others (hitting, biting, etc). The boys should be respectful when speaking to adults and should be helpful. We focus on the positive, giving lots of encouragement, hugs, and positive reinforcement when things are going well. We also make sure the boys are encouraging each other when they do something well. You can never give too many hugs and kisses at our house.
